Knowledge Is Always Useful
The family theatre “Mishpoha” has already existed for 6 years and all this time actors have been doing everything for the performances by themselves: sewing costumes, making stage scenery, composing music and writing scripts. Everything has been on voluntary basis. They could not even imagine that a special seminar for rehearsals and planning of new performances, as well as workshops on acting, lectures on Jewish history and traditions and even recording of phonograms will be held for them. For three days of the seminar “Mishpoha” actors have written a new play script and set to its staging. The performance will be shown in January during the 11th Jewish Book Community Festival. Moreover, all the participants got a present! It was a Tshirt with “Mishpoha” emblem which had been created by the actors at the seminar, but nobody expected the idea of emblem to be realized. At the same time a seminar for the Jewish Community Center “Emunah” Board and Youth Board was held. It's not the first time when two generations organize a joint seminar to discuss the future development of “Emunah”. Youth board discussed the areas of work for the coming year and chose people responsible for its realization. “Emunah”board supported the initiative of young leaders, and Sofia Filkova who is a director of the JCC “Emunah” assured that “Emunah” is going to support and develop the program for young leaders in future.

At 73, he still is what his father had been all his life: dedicated communist and convinced internationalist. Named after Friedrich Engels, Karl Marx’s pal and accomplice in their abortive attempts to overthrow the reign of misappropriated surplus value, he still mourns the USSR and blames those who emigrate for a better living in Israel, in the USA or, even worse, in Germany.
