General Information

JCC Emunah opened in December 2000. Back then it ran six programs for 150 people. Today JCC Emunah serves over 2000 Jews attending over 40 various programs. JCC Emunah is governed by the Board of Directors and the Youth Board.

All the decisions concerning JCC Emunah operation are made by the Board of Directors. Presently the Board consists of 11 most active participants of the Jewish Cultural Center programs who take responsibility for administrative and financial issues.

The Youth Board was created by JCC Emunah teens to resolve teen and youth problems. The Youth Board is an inter-organizational structure that encourages a constructive dialogue between JCC Emunah youth and other Jewish and non-Jewish youth organizations of the city.

Mission

JCC Emunah is committed to preservation and development of Jewish cultural and historical heritage. JCC Emunah works to encourage the process of the Jewish culture rebirth in Belarus; and bring new Jews into the Community.

Activity Mainstreams

  • Jewish holidays, exhibitions, book presentation, theater performances, non-for-profit concerts; and other leisure activities for various age groups;
  • Educational and history programs;
  • Jewish art, crafts and music;
  • Fitness (bodybuilding, aerobics, boxing);
  • Children camps and family retreats with the purpose to deepen the participants’ knowledge in the Jewish culture and lifestyle.

Statistics

JCC Emunah database numbers over 3700 members.
Presently JCC Emunah serves over 2000 regular participants.
There are over 5500 visits made to JCC Emunah a month.

At 73, he still is what his father had been all his life: dedicated communist and convinced internationalist. Named after Friedrich Engels, Karl Marx’s pal and accomplice in their abortive attempts to overthrow the reign of misappropriated surplus value, he still mourns the USSR and blames those who emigrate for a better living in Israel, in the USA or, even worse, in Germany.

Tanya suffers from phenylketonuria also known as Filling's disease. It affects the brain, causing convulsions, hyperactivity, self–traumatic behavior and mental disorders.
